Susan "Sue" Storm Richards, also known as Invisible Woman, is a founding member of the Fantastic Four. Her first appearance was in Fantastic Four #1 (November 1961).
Sue gained her powers after being bombarded by cosmic rays during an unauthorized space flight, which also affected her brother Johnny Storm, her eventual husband Reed Richards, and pilot Ben Grimm. These cosmic rays granted her the ability to render herself and other objects invisible, and later develop the ability to generate powerful force fields.
As the Invisible Woman, Sue initially struggled to fully control her powers, but eventually became a formidable superhero. Her force fields are particularly useful for defense and offense, and she is also a capable hand-to-hand combatant.
Within the Fantastic Four, Sue often acts as the emotional center and voice of reason, balancing the personalities of her teammates. She is also a loving wife and mother, balancing her superhero responsibilities with family life.
